NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police on Tuesday released the identity of a man who was struck near the Belt Parkway in southeast Queens and later died.
Around 11:50 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, police were called out after the man was struck by a motorist at North Conduit Avenue and Cranston Street in Queens.
Marco Orellana, 48, was struck by the 32-year-old driver of a 2011 Toyota Sienna headed west on North Conduit Avenue, police said. The man driving the Toyota remained at the scene, police said.
Orellana was taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was pronounced dead at the hospital on Wednesday, Feb. 11, police said.
An investigation later determined that the driver of the Sienna rear-ended a parked, unoccupied Ford sport-utility vehicle with a trailer attached after hitting Orellana, police said.
The investigation continued late Tuesday.
