Man Robs Bank Branch, Makes Off With Cash In Nesconset, L.I.

NESCONSET, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday were investigating the afternoon robbery of a bank in Nesconset, Long Island.

A man walked into the Capital One Bank branch at 250 Smithtown Blvd. in Nesconset around 4:30 p.m., approached a teller, and took out a note demanding cash, police said.

The teller complied with the demand and handed over cash from the drawer, police said. The suspect walked out and headed east on Smithtown Boulevard, police said.

The robber was described as a white male in his late 20s or early 30s, standing about 5 feet 6 inches tall with a thin build.

He had long brown hair and a beard, and was wearing a blue flannel jacket, police said.

The investigation continued late Tuesday. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 220-TIPS.
