Power Problems, Icing Cause Significant Delays On LIRR, NJ TRANSIT
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Long Island Rail Road and NJ TRANSIT commuters faced significant delays Friday morning due to power problems and icing in the tunnels.
NJ TRANSIT trains were subject to 60 minute delays due to ice build up in one of the Hudson River tunnels in and out of Penn Station. Trains were running on or close to schedule by 2:30 p.m.

Earlier Friday, an Amtrak train also became disabled in the tunnels.
"We're single tracking while our crews get in there and knock down some of the ice," Amtrak spokesman Craig Schultz told 1010 WINS. "That's the reason for the delays here in and out of Penn Station this morning."
Schultz said they are working to have normal service fully restored in time for the evening rush.
"In terms of the ice buildup, that's our goal is to get everything knocked down and cleaned up," he told WCBS 880.
LIRR eastbound and westbound service between Ronkonkoma and Greenport was replaced by bus service due to equipment trouble and high wind. The disruption was expected to last through the evening rush hour.
For a time Friday morning, the LIRR was reporting up to 60 minute delays into Penn Station due to congestion caused by power problems in one of the East River tunnels.
