Police: 2 Women Robbed At Knifepoint In Bronx Elevator; Suspect Sought

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Wednesday were asking for help in finding a suspect who robbed two women at knifepoint in an elevator in the Bronx.

The robbery happened just before 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 16, in a building at Metropolitan Avenue and Purdy Street in the Parkchester section of the Bronx, police said.

The suspect followed the two women into the elevator and flashed a knife while demanding their money, police said. The victims handed over their purses containing an undetermined amount of money, police said.

The suspect then ran off, police said. No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a black male between the ages of 20 and 22, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a gray jacket, black pants, a black hat and a black hooded sweatshirt.

Police have released a surveillance image of the suspect, and a surveillance video of the robbery in progress.
