New Yorkers Revel In Warmer Temperatures As Spring Nears

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's not official yet, but spring is definitely in the air.

As CBS2's Cindy Hsu reported, the winter weather just last week is but a memory now.

"It's like a whole new life. It's spring, it's wonderful, it's great. The sun's out, let's go see things, let's be happy," said Stan Nielson.

The Nielson family just moved to New York from Las Vegas.

"We love New York!" said Judi Nielson.

Runners, like Justine Popik, are broke out the shorts.

"I looked at the weather. I was like that's it, it's shorts weather," she said.

Four-legged friends, like Tucker, can't wait to bag the booties.

"(Just like humans, Tucker is probably ready to get rid of the booties, right?) Absolutely, he's not so happy about having them put on, but he puts up with me," said his owner Harry.

Speaking of footwear, many ladies broke out the high heels, Hsu reported.

And there were a lot of parents who were grateful to be able to get out of the house with their kids.

"It's great. He's a lot lighter. I don't have this huge bunting over him," one woman said of her infant.

CBS2's Hsu even found New Yorkers, like Collin Mitchell, breaking into song over the fabulous weather.

"Imagine all the people ... Living for today... Ahhhh haaahhhh," he sang while strumming on a guitar.

The warmer weather is expected to continue Thursday with a high near 50 and sunny skies.
