Teixeira On NYCFC Playing At Yankee Stadium: 'It's Going To Suck'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York City FC will share Yankee Stadium with the Yankees this season, and its first game in the Bronx will be on Sunday.

The club will play at the stadium again on March 28, just days before the Yankees' opener against the Blue Jays on April 6.

NYCFC ON THE RADIO: A NEW TEAM MEANS NEW TERMS

Between Sunday and Oct. 25, NYCFC has 17 dates at Yankee Stadium. This could obviously create field condition issues, and Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira admits that he's not happy about the situation.

"It's going to suck," Teixeira said, according to the New York Daily News. "But you have to deal with it. It's going to tear up the infield, but there's nothing we can do about it, so we'll deal with it."

Yankees manager Joe Girardi is fairly confident that there won't be any problems, but he certainly doesn't sound convinced.

"I think you have to see how it affects it before you really make a judgment on it," Girardi said, according to the newspaper. "I know (head groundskeeper) Danny Cunningham and his staff are really good, so I'm sure they'll find a way to make it as good as they can possibly make it. We'll see."
