Family Of Missing Autistic Man From Brooklyn Hopes For His Safe Return
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Brooklyn family isn't giving up hope looking for their 20-year-old autistic son with diabetes who has been missing since Feb. 17.
Brian Gewirtz's parents, Kathleen and Steve, told WCBS 880's Monica Miller it's every parent's nightmare.
"He starts crying, I start crying," Kathleen said.

The couple is concerned about his health and believe he is disoriented.
"He's also on Methforman, which is an anti-diabetic medication. So we're not sure how his blood sugar would be," said Kathleen.
About 100 volunteers have been canvasing the city, including parks. His father says he's an Eagle Scout.
"Survival is second nature to him. The dip in the weather may be horrific for you and I, but it doesn't bother him in the least," Steve said.
Brian is described as 5'4", about 150 pounds, with dark hair, brown eyes, and a mustache.
