MTA Employee Intervenes In Slashing Attack Near Subway Platform
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities say an employee with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority stepped in to help after witnessing an attack on a man.
Police said an argument between two men in front of a subway token booth at the 28th Street-Park Avenue South station in Manhattan escalated to the point where one man pulled out a knife.
The man then slashed the 30-year-old victim in the head and neck, police said.
An MTA employee then intervened and held the suspect until officers arrived, 1010 WINS reported.
The suspect, 27-year-old Donald Cheatham, is charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police said Cheatham, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is believed to be homeless, 1010 WINS reported. They said officers found two knives on him at the time of his arrest.
