Around 3 a.m. Sunday, two restaurant employees were walking home from work when they were cut off by a light-colored SUV with New York plates at the intersection of Armonk and N. Water streets, WCBS 880's Sean Adams reported.

Three men, one armed with a gun, jumped out of the vehicle and forced the victims to the ground, police said. The victims were beaten and robbed of their wallets and cellphones.

Residents are alarmed.

"I've never seen any incidents like that at all. No cases where people were robbed or beaten up, especially at gunpoint," said resident Rick Massi. "The neighborhood is a fine neighborhood, I've been here my whole life."
