Rockettes Take Center Stage In 'New York Spring Spectacular' At Radio City

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Rockettes are center stage in a love letter to New York City.

On Friday, CBS2's Jill Nicolini was behind the scenes at Radio City Music Hall for more on the spring show.

The New York Spring Spectacular is taking over Radio City Music Hall.

"The spectacular is our love letter to New York. We are taking you all over the city from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Grand Central Station, the top of the Empire State Building. It is really an incredible show," Rockette, Danielle Betscher said.

The Rockettes will be dancing with umbrellas.

"This number is singing in the rain. It's our tap number. We have 500 gallons of pouring rain falling down on us. We have umbrellas," Rockette Melinda Farell said.

For an Easter Parade number the dancers will be wearing beautiful mint green dresses and flower hats.

They also have a sports number planned which includes costumes modeled after New York teams like the Yankees and Rangers.

"This is our final number. Radio City New York, New York. It's truly the epitome of what it is to be a Rockette. We are wearing this gorgeous tuxedo and top hat," Betscher said.

"You'll absolutely see our world-famous eye high kicks and we do a bunch of strut kicks," Farell said.

Actress Laura Benanti and dancer Derek Hough will star in the show which runs through May 3.
