Man Charged With Raping 16-Year-Old In Her Bronx Apartment

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested a man who allegedly raped a 16-year-old girl inside her home in the Bronx.

Police say the suspect knocked on the victim's door Tuesday afternoon at East 180th Street and Third Avenue in the Tremont section, claiming to be a maintenance worker.

According to police, the teen left the door open as she went to get her cellphone to call her mother. That's when the man entered the apartment and attacked the girl, authorities said.

The suspect then fled the scene, police said.

Police arrested Jose Nallar, 62, on Wednesday morning, 1010 WINS reported. He is charged with rape, burglary and unlawful imprisonment.

The victim was taken to North Central Hospital in the Bronx for treatment.
