Tom Chapin Celebrating 70th Birthday, 40th Anniversary Of WhyHunger With City Winery Show
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's been 40 years since singer-songwriter Harry Chapin co-founded World Hunger Year.
The nonprofit group, now known as WhyHunger, is behind the Hungerthon radio fundraiser in the fall, but it provides services throughout the year.
The "Cats in the Cradle" singer died in 1981. But his brother, Tom Chapin, who recently turned 70, continues his mission.

"We are in the middle of a food revolution," Tom Chapin told WCBS 880's Sean Adams. "People are really talking about where food comes from. People who actually are eating enough, but eating the wrong things -- why is this huge diabetes, all this crazy stuff going on? And there's food deserts, places where, in some poor neighborhoods, you can't get healthy food.
"And so all of that we're addressing, as well as trying to help somebody who's hungry, trying to put them in touch with food."
On Monday night at City Winery in SoHo, Tom Chapin is celebrating the release of his new CD "70" and raising money for WhyHunger.
