Tractor-Trailer Strikes Overpass On Hutchinson River Parkway

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) - Authorities say traffic is moving again on the Hutchinson River Parkway after a tractor-trailer struck an overpass in Westchester County.

Southbound lanes of the Hutchinson River Parkway were closed for a time following the 5 a.m. accident. In Scarsdale.

Police say the truck struck the Mamaroneck Road bridge at Exit 22.

The truck sustained damage to its front and trailer.

Motorist Scott Donovan was on his way to work when he believes he ran over and into the trailer's rear doors.

The incident left him with three flat tires and a minivan hemorrhaging oil and coolant.

"There were three or four other cars ahead of me, already pulled over on the side changing tires," he told WCBS 880's Paul Murnane.

The truck looked to be carrying palettes of bottled water, Murnane reported.

The Mamaroneck Road on-ramp to the southbound parkway and the southbound off-ramp to Weaver Street remain closed.
