Police: Suspect Robbed 2 Women Over 60, Slashed One, In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday released a sketch of a suspect in the robberies of two women over 60 at the same corner in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.

One of the victims was slashed with a knife, police said.

The first robbery happened around 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14 at Atlantic Avenue and Linwood Street. The suspect placed an object to the back of a 72-year-old woman and took her purse containing cash and credit cards, police said.

The suspect then ran off, police said. The victim refused medical attention on scene.

In the second incident at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, the suspect walked up to a 64-year-old woman at the same intersection and asked her if she had any money, police said.

The suspect then punched the victim in the side of the head, and tried to stab her with a knife, police said. The victim raised her hands to block the knife and was slashed in her hand, police said.

The suspect left empty handed, police said. The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was treated and released, police said.

The suspect was described as a black male standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds.
