Tanker Truck Overturns, Catches Fire On NJ Turnpike In Woodbridge

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A tanker carrying gas overturned and caught fire on the New Jersey Turnpike Tuesday.

The incident happened at the southbound truck lanes ramp at Interchange 11 in Woodbridge, CBS2's Joe Biermann reported.

The driver received severe burns and was medevaced in critical condition to a local hospital.

There is no word on what caused the tanker to overturn.

The exit ramp remains closed hours later and drivers should expect major delays in the area.

Plan on going down to Interchange 10 where you can hook up with 287 and get over to the Parkway to Routes 1 and 9 in that area, Biermann said.
