Questions Surround Discovery Of Missing French Rapper At New York Hospital

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A missing French tourist has been found, but there are still many questions surrounding his disappearance.

Arthur Astie, a rapper who was visiting Harlem, turned up late Friday, four days after he disappeared on the subway in the Bronx.

Police told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern Astie is being evaluated at a New York-area hospital, and that he's OK.

Friend Sara Ripp said they were all together Monday night, and Astie was supposed to get on a flight going home to France the next day at 1 p.m.

Ripp said Astie had left Brooklyn and was headed for Harlem when he vanished.

"He had accidentally taken the No. 5 train, and missed his stopped, which should have been at 125th Street in Harlem. He got off somewhere in the Bronx," Ripp said.

Ripp said she grew concerned when no one heard from Astie. The last time he was heard from, he said he was in the Bronx and called his father to say he was going to turn around and find his way back to Harlem, Ripp said.

"He's such a good person and it's upsetting and it's confusing and it's so troublesome," Ripp said.

There was concern that the 22-year-old may have been attacked. In a voicemail left on his mother's phone there was the sound of what could have been an argument, Stern reported.

But police said on Saturday it appears Astie was not the victim of a crime.
