Giants Sign 4 Undrafted Free Agents, Cut 3 Players

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Giants have signed four players who came to a rookie camp last weekend on a tryout basis.

The team announced Monday it had signed running back Kenneth Harper of Temple, wide receiver Ben Edwards of Richmond, tight end Will Tye of Stony Brook, and defensive tackle Carlif Taylor of Southern Connecticut State.

Rutgers quarterback and New Jersey native Gary Nova attended the tryout but he was not signed.

The Giants also terminated the contract of running back Chris Ogbonnaya and waived linebacker James Davidson and safety Thomas Gordon.

Harper ran for 1,113 yards and 17 touchdowns and caught 66 receptions for 528 yards and four scores in 48 games at Temple.

Edwards caught 207 passes for 2,196 yards and 15 touchdowns at Richmond. Tye, who started his career at Florida State, had 79 catches for 1,015 yards and nine touchdowns in two seasons at Stony Brook.

Taylor had 73 tackles this past season, including eight for losses.

Ogbonnaya played on special teams in the Giants' final two games last season. Davidson also played in two games, Dec. 7 at Tennessee and Dec. 28 vs. Philadelphia. Gordon was in training camp with the Giants in 2014 and spent the final two weeks of the season on the practice squad.
