Judge: Jurors Offered Bribes In Case Of Man Killed By Penis Injection

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A woman accused of causing a man's death with an injection of silicone he hoped would enlarge his penis has been jailed, after a judge ruled she was complicit in an alleged scheme to bribe potential jurors.

The ruling came Tuesday after the judge questioned some prospective jurors in the case, NJ.com reported.

Three of them said they had been approached Friday by a man allegedly associated with Kasia Rivera, and two said they were offered $5,000 bribes.

Rivera, and East Orange resident, denied any involvement in any scheme. But the judge revoked her bail and ruled that none of the three jurors could serve on the trial.

In May 2011, Justin Street -- also of East Orange -- visited Rivera's practice to get his penis enlarged. He died the next day, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's office.

Street's death was ruled a homicide following an investigation and a medical examiner's determination that Street died of silicone embolism.

Rivera faces trial on charges of reckless manslaughter and unauthorized practice of medicine. She has maintained her innocence.
