Police: Fake Cops Took $250 From Man In Times Square Subway Station
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Tuesday released photos of two suspects who allegedly pretended to by police officers and demanded payoffs for a "violation" at the Times Square-42nd Street subway station.
Around 3:40 a.m. Saturday, April 18, a 22-year-old man was approached by the two suspects as he entered the station, police said.
The suspects claimed to be police officers and told the man he had committed a violation, police said. The suspects also told the man he could pay them a fine directly, police said.
The man gave the suspects $250, and they both ran off, police said.
Police on Tuesday released photos taken on the victim's cellphone.
