New Jersey State Police Put 'Ghost Cars' On Patrol To Catch Bad Drivers
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Just because you don't see them, doesn't mean New Jersey State Police aren't watching.
This week, state police unveiled so-called "ghost cars" as its newest tool to catch law-breaking motorists.
The black Chevrolet Caprices appear unmarked from far away, but upon closer inspection, the cars carry a faint gray State Police emblem on the sides.

State Police spokesman Capt. Stephen Jones said the agency is trying to avoid notice on the highways so troopers can catch dangerous drivers who would normally behave in the presence of marked cars.
Sgt. First Class Gregory Williams said the frosted gray logo is there to avoid any confusion, WCBS 880's Jim Smith reported.
"Every citizen will know that this is a trooper vehicle," he said. "The unmarked, it's difficult to recognize or understand that it is a trooper vehicle."
The ghost cars will be deployed around the state, but especially on the New Jersey Turnpike, Smith reported.
Williams added the cars will hopefully make the roads safer for Memorial Day weekend.
