Driver Sought After Girl, 7, Badly Hurt In Bronx Hit-And-Run
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police are looking for a driver after they say a little girl was seriously hurt in a hit-and-run crash in the Bronx.
It happened around 10 p.m. Sunday on East 214th Street at Paulding Avenue in the Williamsbridge section of the borough.
Police say a 7-year-old girl was struck by a dark-colored Jeep Wrangler.
"The little girl was on the ground her eyes were rolling back and they put her on a stretcher and they put her in the ambulance," a witness said.
The girl's cousin, who did not want to be identified, said he and more than a dozen relatives were out when it happened and saw everything.
"We don't know if the vehicle had lights on or not, it just happened too fast and she fled the scene too quick," he told 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon. "Thank God she's alive, it could have been worse."

He told CBS2 the child had just picked up ice cream from across the street and was walking back for a family gathering when she was hit in the middle of the road.
"Everyone tried stopping her and ran after her, she just booked it," he told CBS2's Ilana Gold.
The girl was taken to Jacobi Medical Center with broken legs and a broken pelvis, police said. The girl's cousin said she had surgery Monday morning.
"Right now, we just want her to be OK," he said.
Police are looking for the female driver and say the Jeep likely has front end damage. They say she left the scene heading west, blowing through a stop sign.
The girl's cousin has a message for the driver.
"If you're listening and watching, just come forward and put us at peace," he said.
