Police Step Up Presence At Central Park Following Another Robbery

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police say a teenager was robbed in Central Park on Saturday -- just the latest in a string of recent incidents in the world famous park.

As 1010 WINS' Gary Baumgarten reported, police are seemingly omnipresent at Central Park even as residents express concerns about the rash of robberies.

People like Paul say they are thankful for the police presence.

"I'm really concerned about it, there shouldn't be any robberies in the park because there's a whole lot of patrols of under cover officers out here, so there shouldn't be any robberies," he said. "It's a shame that people are getting robbed."

The 16-year-old was robbed on Saturday near 79th Street and Fifth Avenue in broad daylight, Baumgarten reported.
