Drivers Asked To Watch For Turtles Crossing Road During Egg Laying Season

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - It's egg laying season for the common snapping turtle.

Clarkstown, N.Y. police are urging Rockland County drivers to be on the lookout for the slow-moving creatures crossing the road, especially during the next three weeks.

Particular areas of concern are Western Highway in West Nyack and Blauvelt.

Police have posted signs urging motorists to drive with caution.
