Tucson, Arizona Shooting Suspect Arrested In Upper Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A man accused of shooting and seriously wounding his ex-girlfriend in southern Arizona three months ago was arrested this week in Upper Manhattan.

Tucson police said Kevin Dunbar, 49, was located Wednesday by the U.S. Marshals Service and taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for attempted first-degree murder.

He was arrested after walking out of an apartment building in Washington Heights, according to a New York Post report.

Police said Dunbar is awaiting extradition to Tucson.

He will face attempted murder charges when he is returned to Tucson, according to Tucson CBS affiliate KOLD-TV.

Authorities said two detectives from the Tucson police Domestic Violence Unit were also dispatched to New York to investigate.

Police say Dunbar's ex-girlfriend obtained an order of protection against him after their breakup.

The unidentified woman was leaving the parking lot of her apartment building on March 10 when Dunbar allegedly pulled his vehicle behind hers to block her exit.

While she was talking to a 911 operator, Dunbar allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots before fleeing the scene.
