NEW YORK (WFAN) — With the Belmont Stakes just a day away, WFAN host Mike Francesa broadcasted his Friday show live from Belmont Park in Elmont.
His first guest, fittingly, was American Pharoah trainer Bob Baffert. American Pharoah won both the Kentucky Derby and Preakness, and is looking to become horse racing’s first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.
“Everything that I see, the way he’s trained, it looks like he still has it in the tank,” Baffert told Francesa. “But you really don’t know until you put him in the gate and they go around there … I feel pretty good about it. Watching him the way he’s trained, the way he’s worked, he’s coming into it really strong.
“The way he moves, he moves so effortlessly. I’ve never had a horse who moves as good as he does. And that’s what you need going a mile-and-a-half,” Baffert added.
