Low Blow! Jets' Cro Cites Infamous Winslow Allegation In Twitter Spat

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Kellen Winslow Jr. and Antonio Cromartie might need more than 140 characters to settle this Twitter squabble.

Winslow took exception to Cromartie putting New York Jets teammate Dee Milliner on the spot during an interview Tuesday when he took a microphone and asked if Milliner thought he was "on the roster bubble."

Milliner, being a good sport, answered the question posed by Cromartie, who recently took part in the NFL's four-day broadcasting boot camp and was half-jokingly repeating speculation by some fans and media. Milliner, the No. 9 overall draft pick in 2013, doesn't appear to be in jeopardy of losing his job. He missed most of last season with a torn Achilles, and will likely back up Cromartie, Darrelle Revis this season.

Winslow, who played with Cromartie and the Jets in 2013, blasted his former teammate in a series of tweets Wednesday morning, calling Cromartie "one of the biggest posers I have ever seen and played against" and probably "the last guy I would take down an alley with me."

Winslow then told Cromartie to worry about himself and stop talking.

"Your (sic) not even close to the best," he wrote. "You got bad feet and are scared to jam."

He wasn't finished, though, saying he was simply "speaking my mind" and adding: "Anybody who talks to their teammates like that ... Can't respect em."

Cromartie apparently got wind of the tweets a few hours later, and threw one big Twitter jab at Winslow.

"You wish you were as good as your dad," Cromartie wrote, referring to Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow. "Have you been to TARGET lately?"

The latter was a reference to an incident in which Winslow was arrested in New Jersey in a Target parking lot for possession of synthetic marijuana. A judge dropped the case on the condition that Winslow meet with probation officers for a year and stay out of trouble. A witness allegedly told authorities that she believed Winslow was masturbating in his vehicle, though lewdness charges were never filed.

Winslow then tweeted that he and Cromartie should "get in the ring," and he would "whoop" him.

Ding. Ding. Tweet. Tweet.

Then, Winslow offered one more parting shot: "just know I'm ready for you. #Poser."

The Jets headed out for practice after Winslow's retort, so this Twitter battle might go a few more rounds.
