Mets Activate Bobby Parnell, Dilson Herrera From Disabled List

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Bobby Parnell is back with the New York Mets following Tommy John surgery despite subpar performances during his injury rehabilitation stint in the minor leagues.

The former closer was activated from the 15-day disabled list Thursday by the Mets, who placed right-hander Dillon Gee on the bereavement list following the death of his grandmother.

Parnell was injured on March 31 last year in the season opener against Washington, and the right-hander had reconstructive elbow surgery on April 8.

He was 0-4 with an 11.57 ERA in 15 minor league appearancees, striking out 11 and walking 14 in 14 innings. Opponents had a .373 batting average against him.

In addition, infielder Dilson Herrera was activated from the disabled list and infielder Ruben Tejada was placed on the paternity leave list after the birth of a daughter.

In 10 games, Herrera is batting .235 with a home run and three RBIs.
