High School Prom Dates Set Up By The Jets Ready For Big Event In Levittown

LEVITTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Prom season is in full swing. On Friday, teens from all over the Tri-State Area were preparing for their big night.

For two Long Island teens, it was to be a night they wouldn't soon forget, thanks to some help from the New York Jets, CBS2's Steve Overmyer reported.

"There so much to do. I feel like I keep forgetting something," Sarah Kardonsky said as she prepared for the big event.

Prom is the high school formal that's as much an American tradition as football. For two students from Division Avenue High School in Levittown, it has become a milestone event.

When the Jets helped Sarah ask Michael Pagano to the prom it became an Internet sensation.

"Everything was so Mike could have a good prom. I get to look pretty. He gets to have fun," Sarah said.

Mike is high-functioning autistic and a huge Jets fan. He and his date even spent a day on the Jets' practice field in Florham Park, New Jersey.

"It's like a roller coaster and I don't like roller coasters. But this is one roller coaster I'll ride," Pagano said.

Mike even met his heroes, Jets cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie.

"Getting a picture with Revis and Cromartie in the same pic? Oh God," Mike said.

When asked how he felt Friday night, Michael said, "I feel like a million bucks." But later, after he added his pocket square to his tuxedo he told Overmyer he felt like "two million bucks."

"Everybody that gets to know Mike is absolutely head over heels in love with him. The people who don't really know Mike are very unlucky for not knowing him, doesn't know," Sarah said.

And now the whole world knows him.

The celebration for Mike and Sarah won't end with the last dance on Friday night. The Jets gave them tickets to a game this year as well as VIP field passes, Overmyer reported.
