Zach Sudfeld Clears Waivers, Is Placed On Injured Reserve By Jets

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — The New York Jets have placed tight end Zach Sudfeld on season-ending injured reserve after he cleared waivers.

The move Wednesday comes after Sudfeld was waived/injured earlier in the week because of a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee suffered during minicamp practice last week. He was helped off the field after he went down when safety Calvin Pryor shoved him in the shoulder during non-contact drills.

Sudfeld does not count against the Jets' 90-man roster.

The 26-year-old had just five catches for 85 yards last season, but led the Jets with 20 kick-coverage tackles. He was claimed off waivers from New England in 2013.

New York has five tight ends on its roster: Jeff Cumberland, Jace Amaro, Kellen Davis, Wes Saxton and Steve Maneri, who was signed Monday.
