Report: New York City FC, Italian Star Andrea Pirlo Agree To Deal

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- He's coming to the Big Apple.

According to the New York Post, MLS expansion team New York City FC has agreed to a deal with Italian star Andrea Pirlo.

The 36-year-old was at Yankee Stadium on Saturday, taking in Old-Timers' Day -- and the subsequent Bombers victory -- from a suite. According to the newspaper, Pirlo was also there to chat with NYCFC chief executive Ferran Soriano.

The deal hasn't been made official by the club, but sources told the Post that it is all but finalized.

The newspaper reports that Pirlo is expected to earn roughly $6 million, which is what NYCFC is paying David Villa and Frank Lampard.

Pirlo is under contract at Juventus through 2016, though the Post reports that he could join NYCFC in the next couple of weeks.

"I spoke to Andrea and told him what I think: that this is an experience worth having," former Italiam teammate Sebastian Giovinco said, according to Sky Sport Italia. "Of course, then only he can decide his future."

Giovinco currently plays for Toronto FC in MLS.

New York City FC, which plays at Yankee Stadium, has rebounded nicely following a very rough start. The club has won three straight MLS games after beginning the season 1-5-7.
