NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — An Astoria woman was killed early Saturday morning in a hit-and-run in Queens.

The crash happened just after midnight on Ditmars Boulevard at 19th Street in the East Elmhurst section of the borough.

Betty Jean Dibiasio, 21, of 21st Avenue, Astoria, was taken to Elmhurst Hospital with severe head trauma, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Investigators said the car was traveling west on Ditmars Boulevard, approaching 19th Street when the victim was crossing Ditmars from south to north. The vehicle struck the woman and then fled the scene.

Neighbors tell 1010 WINS’ Gary Baumgarten that aggressive driving near the park, which is also near a school, has become a serious problem.

On man says what they really need is a traffic signal.

So far, no arrests have been made.

Police said the incident may involve a silver Chevy Impala, CBS2 reported.
