TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — Advice from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s mother is featured in his first presidential campaign ad.

In the ad, Christie makes no apologies for his often blunt speech, saying he learned it from his late mother who never held anything back.

“My mom was the one who set the rules and set the tone, no suffering in silence, you got a problem, tell me,” Christie said.

Over the weekend, Christie’s political team launched a campaign website for 2016 — Chrischristie.com — which features the Republican governor’s name along with the slogan “Telling it like it is.”

The website says it’s paid for by Chris Christie for President, Inc.

The verified Twitter account @ChrisChristie — separate from his governor account — has been calling on people to join the campaign.

Donors and friends are receiving invitations to Christie’s campaign announcement event planned for Tuesday at his former high school in Livingston, where he was student body president.

Christie has been laying the groundwork for months. The governor considered a bid in 2012 before deciding to pass on a campaign.

He joins a field of more than a dozen major candidates for the GOP nomination. Once considered an early front-runner, Christie has yet to build momentum in the early days of the race.

Christie is likely to be one of four current governors in the 2016 race, joining Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal, who announced his candidacy this week, and expected candidates Scott Walker of Wisconsin and John Kasich of Ohio.
