Pack Light With These Travel-Size Treasures

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- If you plan on traveling for the 4th of July, and your luggage is overloaded, you can always cut things down to size.

As you pack for the holiday weekend, CBS2's Cindy Hsu shows us some travel-sized treasures you may want to pack to lighten your load.

When it comes to toiletries, you don't have to hit the travel-size section at the drugstore where choices are often limited. A lot of companies are coming out with travel-friendly sizes -- 3 ounces or less.

Look for facial wipes and towelettes in smaller packaging that can cleanse and hydrate, especially if you tend to get dry skin on the plane.

"After getting off the plane, I like to put one around the back of neck it feels soothing and relaxing, it's really an all in one product you can use them on your kids because they're really gentle," said Elaine D'Farley with Self Magazine.

"Think multi-purpose. There are oils on the market often with vitamin E that you can use to moisturize your hair, skin and nails," D'Farley said. "When it comes to make-up, find products that do at least double-duty, such as color you can use on your lips and cheeks. There's a new line where everything is a mini."

Stowaway was started by two women who go to the gym a lot and so they're carrying around their stuff all the time and they're traveling -- so they wanted things in small sizes, D'Farley explained.

When it comes to soap, there's one by Dr. Bronner's you can use as a body wash, hand sanitizer and to clean your clothes.

So what if you want to get some spa time on the plane?

"I love this from Sephora, it's a jelly mask, it's one dose, it's exactly the right amount, you can carry this on the plane and you can put this on when you first get on," D'Farley explained.

One traveler said she travels with just a razor and a bar of soap and buys the rest when she arrives at her destination.
