ATV Hits, Injures Police Officer In Bronx; Suspect Sought

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- An ATV rider intentionally slammed into a police officer and knocked him down on a Bronx street, cops said.

The NYPD was looking for the suspected rider Sunday. The officer was treated for scrapes and back and neck trauma and released from a hospital after the crash around 7 p.m. Saturday. It happened on Hunts Point Avenue.

Police say that the officer was in uniform when the four-wheeled ATV hit him from behind at high speed.

Authorities have identified the suspect as George Fabian, 44. He is described as Hispanic, 6 feet 2 inches tall and about 220 pounds. He is bald, has brown eyes, a beard and sideburns. He was last seen wearing a red T-shirt.
