Hempstead Woman Accused Of Trying To Kill Man With Kitchen Knife

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A woman from Hempstead was arrested after detectives say she attempted to kill a man with a kitchen knife.

The incident happened around 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

The 32-year-old victim was at Miranda River Café, 221 Fulton Avenue, when employee Elsa Marina Saravia-Martinez, 34, of Jackson Street, stabbed him in the abdomen with the knife, police say.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he underwent surgery and is listed in stable condition.

Saravia-Martinez was arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder, assault and possession of a dangerous weapon.

She will be arraigned on Monday, July 6, at First District Court in Hempstead.
