Connecticut Dad Who Cops Say Jumped From Bridge With Infant Son To Be Charged

HARTFORD, Conn. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Connecticut man who police say jumped from a bridge with his infant son is set to be arraigned a day after the child's body was pulled from the water.

State judicial officials say 22-year-old Tony Moreno will be arraigned Wednesday morning at the hospital where he's been since firefighters rescued him from the Connecticut River on Sunday night.

Details on what charges Moreno faces were not immediately available.

The body of the 7-month-old Aaden Moreno was found Tuesday night near a swing bridge in East Haddam, south of the bridge where investigators say his father jumped.

Dive teams and helicopters had been searching for the infant since Sunday.

"Our thoughts are with Aaden and his family at this time of sorrow," the Middletown Police Department said in a statement.

The Hartford Courant reported Monday night that the baby had been the focus of a child custody case between his parents, and the mother, Adrienne Oyola, had sought a restraining order against Moreno saying she feared for her safety and the baby's.

A temporary restraining order had been in effect from June 17 to June 29, when it was denied by a judge, the newspaper reported, citing court records.
