NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A bicyclist was killed and three others injured Monday morning after an out-of-control SUV slammed into two cars near the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, authorities said.

The crash occurred around 7 a.m.

The driver of a Honda Pilot rear-ended an Uber taxi at a very high rate of speed, witnesses told CBS2's Matt Kozar.

Then the driver of the Honda continued to drive down Fourth Avenue toward Flatbush Avenue and Dean Street and struck a man on a bicycle, witnesses said.

With the biker on the hood of the car, witnesses said the man kept driving down Fourth Avenue before hitting another car and crashing in front of Atlantic Terminal, Kozar reported.

The bicyclist was tossed from the SUV's hood, and the driver of the car had to be pried from the vehicle by firefighters, according to witnesses.

The crash scene stretches nearly half a mile and pieces of the mangled bicycle lay across Fourth Avenue, Kozar reported. Part of the bike frame got tangled under the tire of the SUV that hit it, Kozar reported.

"There was a person on a bike and he just flew over," said witness Lissette Santiago.

There was nothing paramedics could do to save the biker's life and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Koza reported.

The three injured people were rushed to New York Methodist Hospital -- two with serious injuries, one with minor injuries -- Kozar reported.

Witness Jose Rivera who ownes a nearby business said the Uber driver was not hurt but his passengers were.

"There was two passengers in the back of the car.  They took them out.  The police came fast and they help them to the ambulance," Rivera said.

Accident investigators will no doubt be relying on NYPD surveillance camers at the scene to sort it all out, 1010 WINS' Juliet Papa reported.

The driver of the SUV is undergoing medical testing to determine if he had a seizure. So far no charges have been filed, Kozar reported.
