Police: Suspect Caught On Video In Deadly Broad Daylight Shooting In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is asking the public for help in identifying a suspect seen in surveillance video sneaking up behind a man and fatally shooting him in the head.

The shooting happened around 8:40 a.m. Thursday on Westchester Avenue in the Bronx, CBS2's Valerie Castro reported.

In the video, a male wearing dark shorts, a black and grey shirt and a black hat can be seen walking up behind the victim and taking aim with a weapon.

Police said when first responders arrived on the scene, they found 40-year-old Luis Garcia unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the head.

Garcia was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are still investigating the motive for the shooting.

A father who lives nearby said it's sickening to see such violence in his neighborhood.

"Nobody should have to deal with our community being this way -- people shooting up people all the time," said David Arthur.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477). You can also submit a tip by logging onto Crime Stoppers website or text a tip to CRIMES (274637), then enter TIP577.
