Police: Tourist Attacked By Homeless Man Outside Grand Hyatt Hotel

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A tourist was attacked by a man with a plank of wood right near Grand Central Terminal Saturday.

The 51-year-old victim could be seen on a stretcher with a bloody face and an apparent broken nose.

Police said a homeless man attacked the tourist outside Grand Hyatt Hotel on 42nd Street early in the morning.

Officers arrested John Addis near the scene and charged him with assault, CBS2 reported.

Police said Addis has a history of violent and unprovoked attacks.

The victim is expected to make a full recovery.

This is the second apparently unprovoked attack by a homeless person in New York City this week.

On Thursday, a homeless woman slashed an elderly man in the neck with scissors in the West Village, police said.
