Police Release Surveillance Video Of Brooklyn Backyard Shooting
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Gunfire broke out at a backyard party in Brooklyn overnight, injuring nine people, police said.
Police have released surveillance video of the shooting that happened at about 2 a.m. Sunday in the area of 1140 Stanley Avenue and Crescent Street after an argument.
The victims are men and women ages 19 to 38, CBS2's Ilana Gold reported. They were shot in the arms, legs and neck, but there are injuries are not life-threatening, police said. They are being treated at Jamaica, Brookdale and Kings County hospitals.
A preliminary investigation determined that there was a gathering inside of the residence on Stanley Avenue where two men walked up to the outside of location and began shooting. The suspects then fled the scene.
"It sounded like a raucous, just everybody trying to get out of there it was crazy," neighbor Sparkle Charles told CBS2's Matt Kozar.
Four others were taken to hospitals with cuts and bruises from the melee.
No arrests have been made, but police say they are looking for multiple suspects.
"This guy got all bent out of shape, upset, and he just started shooting," a man who said he overhead the commotion told 1010 WINS' Roger Stern.
The argument was "over girls. Might have been his girlfriend, I don't know. But it was over a girl," the man continued.
"I was at work, and I heard gunshots around 1:45 to 2 in the morning," another man who was near the shooting told Gold. "It was about three shots. After that, police helicopters were circling around the neighborhood."
A woman who lives nearby said things have worsened in the area lately.

"I always walking around with pepper spray just in case because sometimes I come home late," she told WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs. "I mean, it is pretty scary. I might watch my back a little closer now."
Police were talking to witnesses and going door to door to try to find out who fired the shots.

There were two other shootings in the city overnight, both fatal.
The first happened around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at a playground in the Bronx. Officers responding to a 911 call found three people with gunshot wounds. A 20-year-old man had been shot in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Christian Garcia, of the Bronx. A 25-year-old man had been shot in the leg, and a 17-year-old girl had been shot in the buttocks. They were both hospitalized in stable condition.
Authorities said a man was also killed in another Brooklyn shooting that happened about the same time opposite the Whitman Houses in the Fort Greene section. The 46-year-old man was shot multiple times. No identification has been released.
The shootings are just part of a violent summer weekend with a least 36 shooting citywide. Three people were killed.
Local leaders say they're experiencing more gun violence in the communities and say the mayor seems apathetic to their concerns.
"Where's our mayor?" Tony Herbert demanded. "Why are you not here denouncing what's going on in our community?"
