Frustrated Steve Tisch Not Pleased That JPP Hasn't Gotten Back To Him

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It still remains unclear when -- or if -- Jason Pierre-Paul will report to Giants training camp.

The two-time Pro Bowler, who severely injured his hand in a July 4 fireworks accident, has begun to communicate with his team. He's spoken with general manager Jerry Reese, head coach Tom Coughlin and defensive line coach Robert Nunn.

He's also exchanged text messages with co-owner John Mara.

Fellow Giants co-owner Steve Tisch hasn't been as lucky. Tisch has tried to reach out to JPP, but has failed in his attempts. It's not sitting well with the chairman and executive vice president.

"It's been very frustrating," Tisch said, according to the Giants' website. "I've reached out to Jason. I've not heard back from Jason. I'm not going to hold that against him. I understand his situation is difficult, complicated, and I'm sure very confusing to him personally."

According to multiple reports, the 26-year-old will not return to the team and sign his one-year, $14.8 million franchise tender until he's fully healed.

There's even some doubt as to whether the defensive end will play at all in 2015.

"I think whatever issues he has to deal with, I'm sure are complicated, frustrating and difficult," Tisch said. "My message to him is get better, we cheer for you. (Senior vice president, medical services) Ronnie (Barnes) and our doctors have access to the best doctors; if not in New York City and the country, possibly the world.

"He should take advantage of that. Let us see you sooner than later. You're not going to be judged, you're going to be helped."
