Former State Senate Leader Skelos' Daughter Arrested In Quarrel At Home

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- The daughter-in-law of former state Senate leader Dean Skelos has been arrested following a fight at her Long Island home.

An attorney for Ann Marie Skelos said Thursday that she pleaded not guilty to two misdemeanor charges of attempted criminal mischief and criminal mischief in Nassau County District Court. She was released without bail.

Skelos is the wife of Adam Skelos, who is also charged with his father.

The younger and elder Skelos both pleaded not guilty earlier this year to federal corruption charges.

Attorney Dennis Lemke says Ann Marie Skelos was arrested outside her Rockville Centre home on Wednesday night following a quarrel.

She allegedly broke the eyeglasses of her 21-year-old nephew, David Hassett, during the scuffle.

Lemke says his client has no prior arrest history, and added Adam Skelos was in court to support his wife.

An indictment levels conspiracy and extortion charges against Dean , and Adam Skelos says a medical malpractice insurer provided the younger Skelos with a no-show job while it lobbied his father on legislative matters.

Authorities allege $300,000 was illegally steered to the son.

The senator has said he will fight the charges and that he and his son will be vindicated. His son's lawyer has said Adam Skelos is not guilty.
