NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A man who escaped police custody was later captured by Newark officers, authorities said Thursday.

Majette escaped police Wednesday while receiving treatment for injuries at University Hospital in Newark. His escape marked the third from the hospital in the past six months.

Officials said on Wednesday the two police officers who were guarding Majette at the time have been suspended without pay.
Union officials called the suspensions “disappointing” and said both officers followed procedure.
