NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The visit by Pope Francis coming next week has generated a lot of pride at a small college in Brooklyn.

As WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell reported, Pope Francis and St. Francis College in Brooklyn Heights are linked by the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi.

“We have great, great satisfaction and happiness that we are sharing with the name of St. Francis of Assisi together,” said the Rev. Brian Jordan, the chaplain at the school.

Briana Munoz is a senior at the school, and she feels the school and the pope share similar traits.

“Very humble, very loving, very connected,” she said.

Jordan and Munoz were both hoping the pontiff would make an unscheduled visit to the school.
