'The Big Bang Theory' Star Opens Up About Rise To Fame Ahead Of New Season

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- 'The Big Bang Theory' returns to CBS on Monday night.

On Sunday, CBS2's Jill Nicolini went behind the scenes with one of the show's stars.

It's that time of year again. Fall TV on CBS is returning. New series and new episodes of your favorite shows are coming, including The Big Bang Theory.

Monday marks the 9th season premiere of the hit comedy 'The Big Bang Theory' and Kunal Nayyar is excited to be back.

"We pick up where we left off with Leonard and penny driving to Vegas to get married and with Sheldon and Amy still in flux, and I can tell you that with these relationships some of what will happen will be very good, with these relationships some of what will happen may not be so good," Nayyar said.

Spoken like a pro, Nayyar did his best to keep us in suspense, but he is opening up about his life in his new book 'Yes, My Accent Is Real And Some Other Things I Haven't Told You.'

Nayyar's book is being published by Simon & Schuster, a division of CBS Corporation, which also owns CBS2.

"I was such a fish out of water when I came to America. I was such an underdog and if I told this story it might inspire young people to live out their dreams and believe that anything can come true," he said.

Nayyar was born in London, but grew up in India before moving to the United States.

"I went to study college finance, marketing, and I really didn't know what I wanted to do. I sort of stumbled into the theater cause I was lonely and I wanted to meet girls, then I got into a play and then I started taking some acting classes, and then I got my masters in acting at Temple University," he said.

The book focuses on his journey, getting the audition for The Big Bang Theory which happened shortly after he moved to Los Angeles.

He said his life came full circle when he got to work with Danica McKellar from The Wonder Years.

"When I had my first kiss in India I was watching The Wonder Years and I remember closing my eyes and dreaming about Winnie Cooper, Danica McKeller and Fred Savage kissing and then Danica got cast in The Big Bang Theory as a guest star and I got to kiss her in real life, well in TV real life, not real life," he said.

He is now happily married to a former Miss India, and said the book will amuse and compel you to be more resilient.

"Yes My Accent Is Real And Some Other Things I Haven't Told You' is in stores now. The Big Bang Theory returns to CBS2 Monday night at 8.
