Teen Jumps To Safety After Being Lured Into Car, Assaulted In Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- The video was shocking to many who saw it.

A 17-year-old girl was lured into a car while walking to school, and later jumped out to safety.

"I'm still thinking -- if you don't know who is driving that vehicle, why would you get in it?" Marcia Shaw wondered.

As CBS2's Tony Aiello reported, Bridgeport police weren't saying how the teen was lured into the car, only that once inside the Toyota Yaris, she was assaulted by the driver.

The driver who assaulted the teen was described as a Hispanic woman in her 40s, freckles on her face, and her hair in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a black leather jacket.

One Bridgeport mother was upset that this could happen in an area where children congregate.

"There is a Catholic school there, there's a high school there. It bothers me. I don't let my girls go anywhere alone, really," Janelle said.

Police said the car made a U-turn, and drove east on Boston Avenue after the girl jumped to safety.

The charcoal gray Toyota has a distinctive feature. It's missing the rear bumper, exposing the white Styrofoam material underneath.

Police said the teenager was shaken up, but not seriously injured.

They're asking for help finding the driver.
