James Dalone Posted Photo Online Of Himself With Victim Hours After Shooting

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting outside a nightclub in the Flatiron District that left one woman dead and two others hurt.

James Dalone, 26, was arrested Tuesday morning during a car stop in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

Boyce said Dalone, of the Bronx — who was earlier identified as Dalone Jamison — was with other alleged gang members at the time of his arrest, WCBS 880’s Rich Lamb reported.

“A lot times when gang members are on the run, they’re with other gang members, and that’s who we got him with,” Boyce said.

Police sources told CBS2 that Dalone is a member of the Dymes R Us gang and has a long criminal history.

Dalone was identified in a photo array as the shooter, 1010 WINS’ Juliet Papa reported. Police had not announced the charges against him as of late Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 4 a.m. Monday outside the Motivo club at 915 Broadway at 21st Street after police said the suspect was kicked out of the club for getting into a fight.

“He was taken out of the club by the bouncers, he had gotten into an argument with another woman there, he was escorted out, told them he’d come back with a gun — something they hear quite often actually, in that business,” Boyce said.

Jamison came back later and opened fire before taking off in a car, police said. Walikque Faussett, 24, was wounded in the back and died at the hospital, police said.

Boyce said Jamison knew Faussett but that she was not the intended target. Police said he was aiming for the bouncers who tossed him from the club.

“I don’t believe at the time he knew who he was shooting at,” Boyce said.

Two other women were also injured, police said.

Faussett’s friend, 25-year-old Lauren Renee Rondat, was shot in the foot and hip and is in stable condition. Deborah Raji, 30, was shot in the shoulder and was also expected to recover.

Jamison posted a photo to social media of himself with Fausett hours after she died, CBS2’s Valerie Castro reported.

“To think he’s putting pictures up with her, are you kidding me?” said the victim’s brother, Prince Faussett said. “This dude doesn’t know what he’s doing. He’s going to get punished.”

“If you know her, why would you kill her?” Fausett’s mother, Wendi Rodriguez, told Castro.

“He’s a coward. He’s really a coward.”

Prince Faussett said his sister, who had a 3-year-old son, was out celebrating her birthday with friends. The women were waiting for a taxi on the sidewalk when the shooting occurred.

“Why you got to do this? Why?” he said. “You took my sister away. You broke our family apart.”
