Jets' Marshall: Ivory Is 'Already The Best Running Back In The League'

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It no secret that the Jets have struggled to get big-time production from their skill position players in recent years.

But times appear to be changing.

Brandon Marshall sure thinks so.

The highly talented and outspoken veteran wide receiver thinks very highly of teammate Chris Ivory, calling the Jets' battering ram of running back, "already the best running back in the league right now."

"Just watch the tape: speed, quickness, agility, vision, endurance. He has it all," Marshall told ESPN earlier this week.

He certainly makes a case when you consider Ivory, now in his sixth season and third with the Jets, is tied for the league lead with 104.7 rushing yards per game. Though he only has 314 yards heading into Sunday's Week 6 game against Washington at MetLife Stadium, he has missed one game due to injury and the Jets had their bye last week.

Ivory's angry running style has caught the attention of the league, especially after his 166-yard performance against Miami in London back on Oct. 4.

The Jets have not had a 1,000-yard rusher since Shonn Greene put up 1,063 in 2012. They haven't had a 1,000-yard receiver since Jerricho Cotchery finished with 1,130 in 2007.

Ivory and Marshall (30 receptions, 400 yards) should easily end those skids this season, barring serious injuries.
