Boyfriend Sought After Queens Woman Is Found Dead With Burns To Her Body

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police were seeking a man for questioning Saturday evening, after his girlfriend was found dead in a bathtub with burns to her body in Jamaica, Queens.

Police were called at 4:04 a.m. Saturday for a possible assault in progress in a fourth-floor apartment at 147-28 90th Ave. in Queens, the NYPD said.

Police said once inside, they found the woman in the tub with burns on her body. She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The woman was identified as Miriam Velez-Samayoa, 28, of Queens. The New York City Medical Examiner's office will determine the cause of her death.

Police said they looking to interview the victim's boyfriend – Carlos Leon, also known as Carlos Alvarado. The NYPD released a photo of Leon.
