“It’s just about the baseball and this crazy team getting there,” Seinfeld said. “I’m not interested in the will they/won’t they signing discussions. I think that’s irrelevant. This is the team. This is our team. Everybody on the team is into it. They’re playing hard. They seem to have a chemistry with each other, which I think is essential to any playoff run like this.”

Seinfeld said he thinks it was a good move for manager Terry Collins to select Matt Harvey over Jacob deGrom as the Game 1 starter Tuesday at Kansas City.

“I feel like deGrom really struggles when he doesn’t have abundant rest. He’s one of those people who needs rest, like a lot of people in New York need rest, older people,” he joked.

The comedian said he is considering making the trip to Kansas City for the World Series, but he is reluctant because he doesn’t want to seem rude.

“I don’t like to be rude or intrusive, and I would hate to think — because I go to Kansas City, I perform there … and they’re nice people, it’s a nice town — I don’t know, do they want the fans of the opposing team with their obnoxious colors and cheering?”

Seinfeld added he’s not a fan of the baseball playoffs lasting so long.

“Wasn’t Game 6 (in 1986) Oct. 26? I don’t like November baseball,” he said. “Can’t we do more doubleheaders or something?”
